The table consists of two parts, the top and the base. The top is reinforced with a structure of steel bars that are welded together and then welded to the underside of the top. Think of it as a steel skeleton that makes the top fully supported and rigid. Attached to these bars are threaded bolts. The base has a steel plate welded to the top of it, and four holes are drilled in each corner of this plate. The bolts from the top pass through the holes in the plate, and are then secured in place with four matching metal nuts. When fully tightened down, the completed assembly is sound and the top can not move or slip around on the base.
All tops are finished with a protective top coat that Oios refers to as the Armor coating. This is a crystal clear coating that is applied after the top has received it's grind pattern and color anodizing. It's applied with a heat process that permanently bonds it to the metal surface. The result is a very durable layer that protects the steel from staining, scratches, and heat damage. That being said, the protective coating is not impervious to damage, and you should always use common sense and care. Don't let abrasive items slide across the top. Always use coasters, placemats, and trivets. Only use mild dish soap and water to clean the top; never use harsh or abrasive products.
